Langley: A 23-year-old Punjabi youth, Jeevan Johal, was shot dead inside a luxury Range Rover in Langley, British Columbia, in what police are investigating as a suspected targeted killing.
The incident took place on October 5 outside Cactus Club Cafe in Langley. According to reports, Johal was sitting inside a white Range Rover when two assailants opened fire on him. Police reached the scene after receiving information about the shooting.
Police reportedly said Johal was linked to the Brothers Keepers gang and that warnings about potential threats had been issued to him and his wife.
Burnt vehicle found nearby
A burnt vehicle was later found around one kilometre from the shooting scene. Investigators suspect it may have been set on fire to destroy evidence, although police are still examining whether it was directly connected to the killing.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is leading the investigation. Officers are working to establish the circumstances surrounding Johal’s alleged criminal associations and identify those responsible for the shooting, including any suspected mastermind.
