Rahul Gandhi, Kharge attend Congress’s ‘Insaf Rally’ in Sangrur

Sangrur: Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and party president Mallikarjun Kharge arrived in Sangrur on Wednesday to attend the party’s ‘Insaf Rally’, which is expected to mark the launch of its campaign for the 2027 Punjab assembly elections.

Punjab Congress president Pargat Singh had announced on Tuesday that the rally would give a new direction to the party’s political activities in the state.

According to Congress leaders, the event aims to raise issues concerning Punjab’s rights, justice for its people and the state’s future.

Former Punjab chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi received a loud welcome from the gathering when he rose to address the rally. The audience applauded for more than 15 seconds before he began his speech.

Channi targeted Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann, calling him a “habitual drunkard”.

He said people would not entrust their children to such a person, yet had handed over Punjab to him.
