Chandigarh: The programme for Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi’s upcoming visit to Punjab is likely to be announced soon. Ahead of his visit, Punjab BJP chief Kewal Singh Dhillon has questioned whether Gandhi will visit Faridkot over the alleged paper leak issue.
Dhillon said Rahul Gandhi had visited Delhi’s Jantar Mantar but questioned why he had not visited Jharkhand despite being there while the state was governed by an alliance comprising the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).
“Rahul Gandhi will now come to Punjab. A paper leak has taken place in Faridkot. Will he go there?” Dhillon asked.
BJP questions action over paper leaks
Dhillon also alleged that six paper leaks had taken place in Punjab during the governments led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal.
Questioning the action taken in these cases, he said the government should explain what steps had been taken against those responsible.
Dhillon also questioned what he described as “double standards” in the political response to such issues.
“Bhagwant Mann and Kejriwal also go to Jantar Mantar. There have been six paper leaks. What action have they taken?” he said, asking whether Kejriwal would also visit Jharkhand.
The BJP leader’s remarks come ahead of Rahul Gandhi’s expected Punjab visit, with the Congress yet to announce the detailed schedule.
