Sri Anandpur Sahib inquiry report to be made public at noon today

Amritsar: The inquiry report into the matter related to Sri Anandpur Sahib will be made public at noon on Tuesday, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said on Monday.

Dhami said the inquiry committee had been asked to complete its work within 15 days and submit its findings within the stipulated timeframe. After examining various aspects of the matter, the committee has prepared its report, he said.

“All facts and information that emerge from the report will be placed before the public and the media,” Dhami said.

The development comes in connection with allegations made by a woman from Bahrain against SGPC member Amarjit Singh Chawla. A police case has also been registered in connection with the allegations.

The SGPC had constituted an inquiry committee to examine the matter. According to the committee, its preliminary report will be submitted to the SGPC president on October 6.

The SGPC has already taken administrative action in connection with the matter. The additional head granthi of the Akal Takht Secretariat was relieved of his services, while another employee was suspended. Chawla’s resignation as an SGPC member has also been accepted.

SGPC secretary and inquiry committee coordinator Balwinder Singh Kahlwan said the committee was examining relevant facts, documents and the accounts of different parties as part of its investigation.

He said the inquiry was being conducted with responsibility and impartiality, with the primary objective of establishing and presenting the facts of the matter rather than supporting any individual or side.

The report is expected to place the findings of the inquiry before the public and media after it is formally submitted to the SGPC president.
