Chandigarh: Former Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal appeared before a Chandigarh court on Thursday along with other accused in connection with the Kotkapura firing case and other cases related to sacrilege.
Heavy security arrangements were put in place during the hearing, with a large police presence both inside the court premises and outside the building.
During the previous hearing on August 10, the Punjab Police, through the public prosecutor, submitted a status report in a sealed envelope regarding the pending investigation into the Kotkapura and Behbal Kalan firing cases.
Following directions of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, the trial in the Kotkapura firing case and sacrilege cases related to property damage was shifted to the Chandigarh Sessions Court in April 2026.
