New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday refused to grant any further relaxation in the bail conditions of Ashish Mishra, the son of former Union Minister Ajay Mishra, who is an accused in the 2021 Lakhimpur Kheri violence case.
A Bench comprising Chief Justice Surya Kant, Justice Joymalya Bagchi and Justice V. Mohana dismissed Mishra’s application seeking permission to visit his native place to attend family functions.
Rejecting the plea, the Bench observed, “We do not find any ground to consider this request. The application is dismissed.”
Mishra had sought modification of the Supreme Court’s January 2023 bail order, arguing that the existing conditions prevented him from attending important family events, including his daughters’ birthday celebrations.
The apex court, however, declined to alter the bail conditions, leaving its earlier order unchanged.
