Jalandhar: Three young men were killed after a car travelling at around 140 kmph crashed into a canter parked on the roadside in Jalandhar early Saturday morning.
The accident took place at around 6 am near Bal Hospital in the Maqsudan area. The impact was so severe that the car was completely wrecked, with its roof torn away and the number plate thrown some distance from the vehicle. The airbags also deployed.
Two of the victims were found dead inside the car on the front seats, while the body of the third victim was thrown onto the road.
Police reached the spot soon after receiving information about the accident. After considerable effort, the bodies trapped inside the wrecked vehicle were removed and taken to a hospital for post-mortem examination.
The identities of the three victims have not yet been established. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
