Punjab Vidhan Sabha Deputy Speaker, Jai Krishan Singh Rouri, administered the oath to 2822 newly elected Panches from 466 Panchayats of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district during a grand district-level oath-taking ceremony held in district on Tuesday.
During this grand event organized by the district administration, Mr. Rouri congratulated the newly elected Panches and urged them to contribute to the prosperity, holistic development, and unity of their villages. He said that Panchayat members can develop their villages to new heights of progress through their active participation. He also assured that the state government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, would provide full support to the Panchayats in undertaking all constructive initiatives.
He expressed great joy over the large number of Panchayats that were unanimously elected in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district. He further noted that where elections were held, they were conducted in a peaceful, fair, and transparent manner. For this commendable achievement, he congratulated the entire district administration and the residents of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar. He urged the Panches to ensure that they fulfill the expectations of the people who have elected them. Highlighting the significance of Panchayats, he remarked that they are regarded as the “pillars of democracy,” as their decisions are respected by the entire village community.
He stated that Panchayats act as a catalyst in bringing the benefits of pro-people and development schemes of the state government to the village level. He invited all Panches, under the leadership of their Sarpanches, to dedicate themselves to development work from today. He emphasized that Panchayat members should work diligently to make their villages drug-free and keep the youth away from drugs. Additionally, he urged the Panches to work hard to ensure that their villages are clean, green, and pollution-free. Meanwhile, the district administration honored the chief guest by presenting mementos.
