KPT beats wheat procurement target -326950 MT procured

Rs. 620 crore paid to farmers in given time frame

Kapurthala:  In a major achievement, the district kapurthala has beats the target fixed for wheat procurement during the current season as 326950 MT has been procured till yesterday . The fixed target for current season was 315372 MT.

Hailing the role of farmers in making great contribution towards the wheat production , Deputy commissioner Mr. Vishesh sarangal said that “it was a matter of pride that the district kapurthala breaks the previous record of wheat procurement” .

It may be mentioned here that during the previous year on April 28, wheat 301912 MT was procured but this time it was nearly more than 25000 MT more wheat procurement. Besides that nearly 16000 to 17000 MT wheat arrival in Mandi’s has been recorded even in last days of April month .

Mr. sarangal also said that during the season it was ensured that the farmers would get payment of procured wheat in 48 hours of wheat purchase and Rs. 620 crore has been paid to farmers.

Government agency PUNGRAIN leads the procurement with 86580 MT, MARKFED with 73730 MT, PUNSUP with 76005 MT, PSWC with 77213 MT and FCI with 1794 MT.
He also said that the lifting has been geared up across all 42 Mandi’s in the district as 265444 MT wheat has been lifted .
