13 killed, 50 injured as two passenger trains collide in Andhra Pradesh

New Delhi: At least 13 passengers were killed and nearly 50 injured when two passenger trains collided on the Howrah-Chennai line in Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh on Sunday evening, police said. 
At Kantakpalle, a passenger train hit another passenger train from behind, derailing three of its coaches, a senior east coast railway zone official said.
Meanwhile, a senior railway official said several people were injured in the accident. The injured are being shifted to hospitals in Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram, he said. Divisional Railway Manager Saurabh Prasad rushed to the spot and rescue operations are in full swing. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has spoken to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw regarding the accident.
