A minor caught stealing chips paraded naked in Shimla’s Rohru town
Shimla: A 15-year-old boy was allegedly beaten up and then paraded naked after he was caught stealing chips from a shop in Shimla district, police said on Sunday. Police have arrested seven persons in this connection. Shimla SP Sanjeev Gandhi said the “shameful” incident took place on July 31. The minor boy belongs to a poor Nepalese family and was caught stealing chips by a shopkeeper in Rohru town.
A case has been registered against seven persons under various sections of the IPC, Section 14 of the POCSO Act and Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act on the complaint of the victim’s father after a video of the minor being paraded around naked surfaced online, the police official said. Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur said such a heinous act will not be accepted in Dev Bhoomi Himachal.
