Airport employees worried over Delhi accident, demand safety audit of all airports in India

New Delhi: An accident at Terminal 1 of Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport has raised many questions about the safety of passengers, officers, and employees working at the airport.

On Friday morning, the parking shed at Terminal 1 collapsed due to flooding. The collapse of the heavy iron structure buried many cabs parked underneath it. As a result, a cab driver died on the spot, and eight people were injured.

This incident has not only affected air passengers but also caused concern among airport employees and people conducting business at the airport.

The Airport Authority Employees Union has demanded that the government order a safety audit of the structural design and maintenance systems of all airports in the country.
