Bihar CM Nitish Kumar resigns, ditches INDIA bloc
New Delhi: Nitish Kumar resigned as the Chief Minister of Bihar on Sunday, terminating his party Janata Dal-United’s two-year alliance with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). Following his resignation, Nitish Kumar stated that numerous issues had been plaguing the coalition for some time, necessitating this decision.
Upon stepping down as Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar expressed, “We considered everyone’s opinion before making this thoughtful decision, aligning it with the party’s stance.” Responding to media queries, he elaborated that the atmosphere in the new alliance appeared unfavorable. Criticizing claims that the party was solely responsible for all actions, Nitish Kumar remarked, “This perception within our party did not sit well with everyone.”
Regarding the possibility of realignment with previous JDU allies, Nitish Kumar mentioned, “Given the strained circumstances, we had to make this decision. Further deliberations will determine our course of action.”
In a rebuke to former colleagues, Nitish Kumar asserted, “The coalition wasn’t pulling its weight; we were handling everything. It felt unjust for us to shoulder the entire burden, prompting our decision to resign.”
