BJP candidate’s wife to contest against him, files nomination as Independent in Etawah

New Delhi: In a unique political battle, Mridula Katheria has decided to contest as an independent candidate from Etawah Lok Sabha seat against her husband and sitting BJP MP and this time party candidate Ram Shankar.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Mridula had filed her nomination papers from Etawah but later withdrew it. Meanwhile, her husband Ram Shankar Katheria won from Etawah in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Speaking to the media, she said, “I have filed my nomination as an independent candidate. I will contest the election. I will contest against him (BJP MP Ram Shankar Katheria).”

The Etawah constituency goes to polls on May 13.
