Central government’s action after ban on MDH and Everest spices in Hong Kong-Singapore

New Delhi: Hong Kong and Singapore have banned the sale of curry spices by Indian companies MDH Private Limited and Everest Food Products Limited.

After this, the central government decided to test the sample of these two brands of spices (Sample Testing of MDH and Everest Masala). The central government has instructed the Food Commissioner to collect samples of spices of these two brands.

Hong Kong had said that these products of both companies contained high amounts of carcinogenic pesticide ethylene oxide. This poses a risk of cancer. After this, Singapore also banned the spices of these brands.

According to sources, the central government has alerted all the food commissioners of the country. The process of collecting samples of spices has been started.

Not just MDH and Everest, samples will be taken from the production units of all spice making companies. The lab report will come in about 20 days.
