Chandigarh mayoral election: “Horse trading serious matter”, SC to examine ballot paper
New Delhi: The Supreme Court has adopted a stringent stance regarding the Chandigarh Mayor Election. It has summoned the ballot papers for examination and will personally review them. Chief Justice of India, DY Chandrachud, emphasized the severity of horse trading in this instance.
The Court noted that the presiding officer, Anil Masih, has admitted to tampering with the ballot papers, and he is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday. The Court will convene to address the matter at 2 pm on Tuesday.
Additionally, the Court has requested the ballot papers from the Punjab and Haryana High Court, emphasizing the need for adequate security during transport.
Furthermore, a complete video recording of the counting process has been requested. The Supreme Court has stated its intention to take legal action if Masih is found guilty.
