Delhi Police calls for 30,000 tear gas shells to prevent farmers from entering Delhi
New Delhi: The farmers have been spearheading the ‘Delhi Chalo’ agitation to press for their various demands and are currently camping at the borders of Punjab and Haryana, while security personnel are all set to stop them from entering the national capital.
As part of these preparations, the Delhi Police has ordered 30,000 tear gas shells. Sources in the Delhi Police said they are determined to prevent the protesters from entering the national capital.
A fresh consignment of 30,000 shells has been requisitioned from the BSF’s Tier Smoke Unit (TSU) at Tekanpur in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. Police said that these shells are being brought to Delhi from Gwalior.
Tear gas is anti-riot, used by security forces to disperse crowds. The gas causes irritation and tears in the eyes.
