Delhi’s air pollution dips to severe category, national capital ranks first among world’s most polluted cities

New Delhi: The sky in the national capital was covered by a thick blanket of toxic smoke. Due to this, the air here reached the severe category.
     On Tuesday, in the list of the world’s most polluted cities, Delhi was ranked first, Dhaka second, Lahore third and Mumbai fourth.
According to a system devised by the Pune-based Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology to identify the contribution of various sources of pollution, incidents of stubble burning in the national capital on Tuesday accounted for 12 per cent of the air pollution. It is expected to be 14 per cent on Wednesday and 6 per cent on Thursday.
