‘Insensitivity’: Delhi LG slams AAP for ministers not turning up for meeting
New Delhi: In a letter to the Union Home Ministry, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has said that Delhi government ministers displayed “insensitivity and lack of seriousness” by refusing to attend meetings convened to discuss the functioning of his ministry after Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest.
Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 21 in connection with a money laundering case linked to the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy.
In a letter to the Union Home Secretary, the LG said such a meeting was needed so that “day-to-day work of governance is not affected” after Kejriwal’s detention, but the ministers declined his invitation on the ground that the model code of conduct was in force.
The letter sent from the Lieutenant Governor Secretariat said that after the arrest of Honorable Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal, the Lieutenant Governor had decided to convene a meeting of the key ministers of the Delhi government related to the departments of Water, Education, Health, Transport, Environment and Forest etc.
