Justice B.R. Gavai to be next Chief Justice of India

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has recommended Justice Bhushan Ramakrishna Gavai as the next Chief Justice of India (CJI). The recommendation has been sent to the Law Ministry for approval.

Justice Gavai is set to succeed the current Chief Justice, Sanjiv Khanna, whose tenure ends on May 13 next year. Chief Justice Khanna will have served for six months and two days.
