Mumbai Indians knock out Gujarat Titans to enter Qualifier 2

Chandigarh: Mumbai Indians advanced to Qualifier 2 of IPL 2025 after defeating Gujarat Titans by 20 runs in the Eliminator held in Mullanpur. Riding on Rohit Sharma’s 81-run knock, Mumbai posted a challenging total of 228. In reply, Gujarat Titans were restricted to 208 for 6 in their 20 overs.

Gujarat had a shaky start to their chase, losing captain Shubman Gill in the very first over. However, Sai Sudharsan tried to stabilise the innings with two crucial partnerships—64 runs with Kusal Mendis for the second wicket and 84 runs with Washington Sundar for the third.

Despite the fightback, Gujarat lost momentum after the dismissals of Sundar and Sudharsan, falling short of the target. Sudharsan top-scored with 80 off 49 balls, while Sundar played a quickfire innings of 84 from just 24 deliveries.

Mumbai Indians will now face Punjab Kings in Qualifier 2. With this loss, Gujarat Titans’ journey in IPL 2025 comes to an end.
