NGT imposes Rs 900 crore fine on AAP govt

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has imposed a fine of Rs 900 crore on the Delhi government for not lifting garbage from three landfill sites in the national capital. 

A bench headed by Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel observed that nearly 80 per cent of the waste was not dumped at the three dump sites in Ghazipur, Bhalswa and Okhla.

The bench imposed a fine of Rs 300 crore per site. The NGT said it was a violation of the rights of citizens. The bench said that both the health department of the Delhi government and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi are responsible for not protecting the health.
