No form or identity card required to exchange Rs 2,000 notes: SBI

New Delhi: At the time of exchange of rs 2,000 currency notes from banks, the concerned person is not required to fill any form or other slip nor will he have to show any identity card. State Bank of India (SBI), in a letter to all its local headquarters, has made it clear that persons who have come to exchange Rs 2,000 notes should not be asked to fill any kind of slip.
    The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Friday announced the withdrawal of Rs 2,000 currency notes. 
     The central bank had said that a person will be allowed to exchange a maximum of 20 thousand rupees i.e. ten notes of 2000 rupees in a day. While the RBI has not set any limit for depositing such notes in its account, this KYC will be subject to compliance with the existing rules of ‘Know Your Customer’ and other applicable legal requirements.
    People have been given time from May 23 to September 30 to deposit or exchange notes.
