Om Birla vs K Suresh for Speaker content in a first since independence

New Delhi: There is no consensus between the ruling party and the opposition on the post of Lok Sabha Speaker.

Om Birla has filed his nomination on behalf of the NDA. While the opposition Suresh has been made the candidate by INDIA bloc. He has also filed his nomination papers.

Looking at the data, it is clear that the NDA has a strong claim in the election for the speaker’s post, but the Indian coalition feels that it has a chance to show its strength.

This will be the first time in the 72-year history of Indian democracy that elections will be held for the post of Speaker.
