Opposition alliance ‘India’ meeting: We will get at least 295 seats: Kharge

New Delhi: A meeting of the leaders of the partner parties of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (India), an alliance of opposition parties, was held here today.

After the meeting, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said, “We will get at least 295 seats.” He also mentioned that he would approach the Election Commission to present his grievances. Consequently, the alliance has sought an appointment for Sunday.

The meeting discussed the strategy related to the counting of votes for the Lok Sabha elections. Notably, the Trinamool Congress and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were absent from the meeting.

Attendees included Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, former Congress President Rahul Gandhi, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar, Aam Aadmi Party chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, National Conference’s Farooq Abdullah, Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav, and several other leaders. The meeting took place at 10 Rajaji Marg, the residence of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge.

DMK leader and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister T.R. Baalu attended the meeting on behalf of M.K. Stalin. Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav and Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) chief Mukesh Sahni were also present.
