Probe into drugs cases “extremely faulty” in Punjab and Haryana, says High Court
Chandigarh: Police officers from Haryana and Punjab will receive training on investigating NDPS cases. In a ruling, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has directed sending officers from both states to a police training center in Dharamshala for this purpose.
Bhupendra Singh, convicted in an NDPS case by the Charkhi Dadri court, petitioned the High Court challenging his sentence. The court noted investigative lapses at various levels and took action accordingly. Recognizing better investigative practices in Himachal Pradesh compared to Haryana and Punjab, the High Court emphasized the need for enhanced training for officers from both states to improve investigation methods.
The High Court directed the Directors General of Police from both states to assemble a batch of officers within 15 days and send them to the Daroh Police Training Center in Dharamshala, with training to be completed within three months.
