Rahul Gandhi to vacates Wayanad Lok Sabha seat, Priyanka Gandhi to contest by-election

New Delhi: The Congress has announced that Rahul Gandhi will resign from Wayanad seat in Kerala and will continue to be an MP from Rae Bareli.

Priyanka Gandhi will also contest the by-election from Wayanad. This was done after a meeting between Rahul Gandhi and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge.

The Congress has made two big announcements in the same day. First, Rahul Gandhi’s decision that he will continue to be an MP from Rae Bareli and secondly, the Congress has also fielded its candidate for the Wayanad by-election.

“Rahul has won from two Lok Sabha seats, but as per the law, he has to vacate one seat. Rahul will retain the Rae Bareli seat and vacate the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat. “We have decided that Priyanka will contest from Wayanad Lok Sabha seat,” said Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge.
