Terrorist Lakhbir Landa declared PO by NIA, process initiate to attach his properties
New Delhi: Lakhbir Landa, a designated terrorist in a case of illegal activities, has been declared a proclaimed offender by a special court of the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Now the proceedings to attach his property have started in the court. The action has been taken under Section 82 (4) of the CrPC.
In 2023, the NIA had registered a case against Lakhbir Singh Sandhu alias Landa and his associates Harvinder Singh Sandhu alias Rinda, Satnam Singh alias Satta, Parminder Singh Khaira alias Pattu, Yadvinder Singh alias Yada under Sections 17, 18, 18B, 20, 38, 39 for unlawful activities.
The trial in the case is on before a special NIA court in Mohali. The first hearing of the case was held on October 9, 2023. The NIA had filed a petition in the court to declare the accused as absconders. After the filing of the petition, the court had given 30 days time to the accused to appear before the court, which has passed.
For this reason, the court has declared the accused Landa a fugitive while giving the verdict. At the same time, action has been started against all the accused under section 83 of CrPC.
