Centre conspiring to weaken SAD, SGPC, says Sucha Singh Langah

Chandigarh: Former minister and ex-SGPC member Sucha Singh Langah has alleged that the Centre is working to dismantle the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC).

He claimed that the recent removal of Giani Raghbir Singh and Giani Harpreet Singh as jathedars of Sri Akal Takht and Takht Sri Damdama Sahib was part of this conspiracy, as both were allegedly acting on the Centre’s behalf.

Addressing a press conference at Sri Kesgarh Sahib, Langah was joined by SGPC vice-president Raghujit Singh Virk, executive members Diljit Singh Bhinder and Surjit Singh Tughlabad, and SGPC general secretary Sher Singh Mand.

He said that Jathedar Kuldeep Singh Gargaj had taken over in light of the ongoing Hola Mohalla arrangements and the current situation.

Langah warned of attempts to create unrest in Punjab and asserted that only SAD could counter these conspiracies.

He also criticized the BJP for disregarding Parkash Singh Badal’s role in the formation of Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s government and condemned actions such as the withdrawal of the Fakhr-e-Qaum title from Badal posthumously, interference in gurdwara management, and political meddling in the Hazur Sahib Trust. These, he said, were part of a broader effort to eliminate SAD and SGPC’s influence in Punjab.
