Debate between CM Mann and opposition: Punjab govt to book Tagore Theatre in Chandigarh
Punjab News: Preparations have begun to finalise the venue for the challenge of open debate given by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to opposition leaders in the state.
The state government has sought a location at Tagore Theatre for the event on November 1, sources familiar with the development said.
According to the information, the Punjab government has asked the Tagore Theatre administration whether the venue can be available for the event on November 1.
A decision in this regard will be taken by a secretary-level officer of the Department of Cultural Affairs, UT Chandigarh, on Wednesday.
At present, the rule is that no political event or activities are allowed to be held at Tagore Theatre.
On the other hand, according to information received from state government sources, the Chief Minister will also invite industrialists and other prominent social personalities of the state in the open debate program, who will set an example in response to the questions of the Chief Minister as well as opposition leaders
Jakhar takes a dig at choosing Tagore Theatre
Punjab BJP chief Sunil Jakhar has slammed Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for choosing the local Tagore Theatre as the venue for an open debate with opposition parties on November 1. “By choosing Tagore Theatre for the SYL debate, Bhagwant Mann has proved – old habits don’t go away! Jakhar also wrote two lines in Punjabi, which means – Waris Shah does not go to habits, even if the parts are cut off.
