People shocked by Gujarat HC verdict on PM Modi’s degree: Arvind Kejriwal

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday said people who have the right to know about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s educational qualification are shocked by the Gujarat High Court’s verdict.

On Friday, the Gujarat High Court had set aside a seven-year-old order of the Central Information Commission (CIC) informing Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s degree to Gujarat University.
Addressing a press conference here, Kejriwal said, “The entire country is shocked by the orders of the High Court as in a democracy there should be freedom to take information and ask questions. “The high court’s orders have further raised doubts about the prime minister’s educational qualification,” he alleged. ’’
The Delhi Chief Minister said that if the Prime Minister has studied from Gujarat University or Delhi University, then he should celebrate it instead of hiding the information. “If Mr Modi has an authentic degree, why is Gujarat university not showing it?” he asked, adding that being ‘illiterate’ is not a “sin” as there is extreme poverty in the country and many of us are not in a position to get formal education due to financial constraints of families.
