24-year-old LPU student gang-raped in Jalandhar

Jalandhar: A case of gang rape of LPU student has come to light in Jalandhar, Punjab. The police have arrested 3 accused. The victim student went out for a walk with her friends at night.

According to the information, accused threatened the student’s colleagues and drove her away.

The accused took the girl from Patara area in their car to a deserted place and committed rape. The accused fled from the spot leaving the victim, police said.

The 24-year-old girl had come to study at Lovely Professional University. She is originally from Odisha. On Monday night, she along with two of her friends came to have dinner at the food cord near Dhilwan Phatak late at night.

According to the information received, the victim girl and all her students are BBA students.

Station House Officer (SHO) of Patara police station Varinder Pal Singh said that the three accused will be produced in the court soon and taken on remand and interrogated.

One of the arrested accused works at a government water treatment plant, the SHO said. The second is a DAP student and the third accused runs an electrical goods shop. All the accused have been medically treated from the civil hospital.
