Administration commemorates “Mahaparinirvan Diwas”, pays rich tributes to Dr. BR Ambedkar

Jalandhar: Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal exhorted the youth to emulate the teachings of Bharat Ratna Dr. BR Ambedkar in their lives to bring change in society.

     Addressing the students here at Lyallpur Khalsa College for Women in a function to mark the “Mahaparinirvan Diwas” of Chief Architect of Indian Constitution Dr. BR Ambedkar by the district administration on Friday, Sarangal said that thoughts of Dr. Ambedkar must be disseminated at every nook and corner of the society and youth must take a solemn pledge to realize the ideals of economic and social justice, equality of opportunity for everyone especially weaker-deprived section, labourers, and women.

       He said that we were fortunate enough to live in the largest democracy in the world where people from different walks of life are united by the Constitution.

       Terming the life of Dr. Ambedkar as a lighthouse for the whole of humanity, Sarangal said that “Baba Sahib was a flag bearer for gender equality and fought for equal rights for women.

      He also said that it was grossly unfair to term Dr. Ambedkar only a Dalit leader as he was a national leader, great economist, sociologist, educationist, writer and jurist.

       He also urged the students to work hard in unison for the overall development of the nation by making larger participation in the democratic process.Deputy Commissioner said that Baba Saheb’s thoughts and ideals still continue to give strength to us.

      Earlier ADC (Urban Development) Jasbir Singh also highlighted the key role played by Dr BR Ambedkar to transform the lives of millions of people.

        Later, the students were also awarded for showing excellence in various fields by the Deputy Commissioner. It also includes who bagged top positions in writing competitions.

        Prominent amongst those present on the occasion included SDM Balbir Raj, Deputy Director Public Relations Manvinder Singh, Ashok Sahota, Ashok Gakhal, Surjit Lal, and representatives of various organizations.
