Kapurthala News: A Civil Defence Air Raid/Blackout Mock Exercise will be held on November 27, 2026, at 8:00 PM in accordance with the directives of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. The mock exercise will be conducted to assess and strengthen the preparedness of the Civil Defence machinery and various response agencies in dealing with emergency situations.
The exercise will commence with an Air Raid Warning Signal, which will be disseminated through sirens with a high-low pitch for two minutes. During the exercise, a simulated blackout will be enforced in the areas identified by district administration. The people in the identified areas will be motivated to switch off all non-essential lighting during the blackout. However, essential services will continue to remain functional throughout the exercise. The mock exercise will also include fire response, search and rescue, first aid and medical assistance, evacuation of injured persons, and traffic and crowd control drills.
On completion of the exercise, an “All Clear Signal”, consisting of a continuous high-pitch siren for two minutes, will be sounded to indicate the termination of the mock exercise.
