SGPC detained 3 persons and handed them over to police: Dhami
Amritsar: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has detained three persons and handed them over to the police in connection with the blast in the corridor behind Sri Guru Ram Das Sarna at Darbar Sahib complex here.
This was disclosed by SGPC president Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami. He told the media that these persons have been arrested due to the alertness of the monitoring team through CCTV cameras in the Darbar Sahib.
In this case, a person was arrested from the second floor of Sri Guru Ramdas Saran, who had come and lay down in the verandah of Saran after allegedly committing the incident. At his instance, the couple was later overpowered, who had been newly married and were staying in Saran’s room.
The SGPC team also recovered some pieces of paper from the spot and a bag from the man, which was handed over to the police. One of them is 40 years old and the remaining 2 are in their 30s.
The SGPC president refused to divulge anything more about the arrested person and the material recovered from him and said it was a matter of investigation and it would be disclosed by the police.
He alleged that the government and the police had failed to stop these blasts. Following the incident, the SGPC has decided to further strengthen the scanner and security arrangements and vigil in the Darbar Sahib complex.
