Punjab Police identifies 5 accused arrested in connection with blasts, recovers 1.1 kg of explosive material

Chandigarh: The Punjab Police has identified the persons arrested in connection with the blasts near the Darbar Sahib complex. The accused have been identified as Azad Veer Singh of Wadala Kalan village of Baba Bakala, Amrik Singh of Village Dubri in Gurdaspur, Dharminder Singh and Harjit Singh of 88 Feet Road and Sahib Singh of Gate Hakima area. 
      DGP Gaurav Yadav told reporters that Azad Veer and Amrik Singh had collected the explosive material while Dharminder Singh, Harjit Singh and Sahib Singh were involved in supplying and supplying the explosive material.
Sahib Singh is a licensee for explosives used for manufacturing firecrackers, the DGP said. 
     The police have also arrested a woman whose role is being probed. Police have recovered 1.1 kg of explosive material and some radical literature from their possession. Azadveer and Amrik Singh had been at Guru Ramdas Saran in the Golden Temple complex for several days. 
      Commissioner of Police Naunihal Singh has been directed to set up an SIT to probe these cases, the DGP said. Azad Veer Singh went to the bathroom of Saran and dropped the bomb on the side of the corridor behind Saran at 12.12 pm. 
    He said the accused had earlier confessed to the blasts on Heritage Street.
