SGPC president Advocate Dhami seeks immediate ban

Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, while reacting to the Dera Sacha Sauda chief’s announcement to open a dera in Sunam in Punjab, has demanded an immediate ban on its activities from the government.

Advocate Dhami said that the character of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Ram Rahim is anti-social and the allegations against him are very serious.

Convicted in rape and murder cases, Ram Rahim is also the main accused in the sacrilege cases. He said the controversial person’s announcement to open a dera in Punjab had hurt Sikh sentiments deeply and could disturb the peaceful atmosphere in Punjab. He said that the Punjab Government should play its role responsibly on this very serious matter and resolve that no branch of Dera Sirsa should be formed in Punjab.

The SGPC president said that the Sikh psyche was being hurt by repeatedly granting parole to Ram Rahim, who is already lodged in jail due to his poor character and activities, and now his announcement to open a dera in Sunam is a conspiracy.

He said that the Sikh community will never tolerate this act of his. The government should not allow those indulging in such acts to play with the religious sentiments of the people.

He once again made it clear that no activities of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Ram Rahim in Punjab would be allowed. Advocate Dhami also urged the Central and state governments to restrain the Ram Rahim, who is facing serious charges, from speaking on parole.
