SGPC secures nod, kin refuse to meet those detained in Dibrugarh jail

Chandigarh: After the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee has secured permission to meet Sikh youth those sent to Dibrugarh jail under NSA during a crackdown against Amritpal Singh, their family members have expressed unwilling to visit the jail to meet them, sources familiar with the development said.

The family members of seven accused out of nine have refused to accompany the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) to go to the jail. At the same time, the family of actor Daljit Kalsi itself will reach Dibrugarh jail, sources said.
Recently, DC Amritsar had given permission to meet the family members on Thursday, April 20. On April 18, the SGPC contacted the family members of all the nine accused so that they could leave Amritsar on April 19, but seven of the nine family members have refused to go yet.
Most family members say that the crops in the fields have yet to be harvested. In the meantime, they cannot go to Dibrugarh jail right now. At the same time, some say that they do not want to go to Dibrugarh by road. They should be sent by air. But preparations were being made by the SGPC to take them by road, sources said.
Meanwhile, the SGPC was categorically denied by the family members of the seven accused. While the family members of Papalpreet Singh have left for Dibrugarh in the morning. Not only this, the family members of actor and Amritpal Singh’s financier Daljit Kalsi said that they will go separately go to Dibrugarh jail for the meeting.
