5-day training programme organises for Assistant Returning Officers of Punjab

CEO encourages AROs to conduct the Lok Sabha Elections-2024 in a smooth and transparent manner

Chandigarh: The Chief Electoral Officer Sibin C on Monday has exhorted all the Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) of the state to conduct the upcoming Lok Sabha elections-2024 in a smooth and transparent manner.

Speaking at the launch of a five-day training programme for Assistant Returning Officers at the Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration, he said, “India is known as a strong democracy all over the world, and it is the duty of all of us to perform our duties with utmost diligence and responsibility.”

He further disclosed that on the directions of the Election Commission of India, a certification programme is being conducted for the Assistant Returning Officers of Punjab and Chandigarh from February 12 to 16 at Chandigarh and Amritsar. In this programme, assistant returning officers of all the 117 assembly constituencies of Punjab are being trained on various topics related to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections-2024. Additional CEO Abhijeet Kaplish was also present on the occasion.

CEO Sibin C said that AROs are being trained by national-level master trainers. Training has been arranged for 59 AROs of Punjab and 10 AROs of UT Chandigarh in Chandigarh and 58 Assistant Returning Officers of Punjab at Amritsar.
