6.25 lakh acres of crop destroyed, 54 people died during floods in Punjab
Punjab News: About 6.25 lakh acres of crops have been destroyed due to floods in Punjab. During this time, 54 people lost their lives and 27,000 animals also died. These facts have been revealed in the report submitted by the Punjab government to the Central Inter-Ministerial Team yesterday.
Although the girdawari of the crops is yet to be completed, the picture has emerged that crop loss of 6.25 lakh acres has been done, while till now the crop loss was reported to be only 2.59 lakh acres.
The Punjab government has estimated Rs 605 crore to compensate for the crop loss. If the rules are relaxed by the central government, then the farmers will get Rs 1210 crore as compensation according to the initial estimates. The paddy crop in the state has been badly affected and the maize crop in the Kandi region has been damaged. According to the central rules, compensation can only be given for the damaged standing crop, while the paddy crop was yet to be sown. The central rules do not consider early-stage plants as crops.
