Chandigarh: Ludhiana businessman and AAP leader Anokh Mittal was arrested on Monday, along with his female friend Pratiksha, for the murder of his wife, Lipsi Mittal.
Police also arrested four contract killers allegedly hired by the duo. They have been identified as Amritpal Singh alias Balli (26), Gurdeep Singh alias Manni (25), Sonu Singh (24), all residents of Nandpur, and Sagardeep Singh alias Teji (30), a resident of Dhandari Kalan. The main contract killer, Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi, is absconding.
Lipsi Mittal was killed by assailants armed with sharp-edged weapons on the Dehlon bypass on Saturday night. The incident occurred when she was returning home with her husband after attending a party at a resort in Pohir village on the Ludhiana-Malerkotla highway.
Anokh Mittal initially claimed that unidentified miscreants had attacked them, snatching his car, mobile, and jewellery. However, the investigation revealed that he was the main conspirator.
According to police officials, Mittal conspired with Pratiksha, with whom he allegedly had an illicit relationship. They reportedly hired the contract killers for Rs 2.50 lakh, paying an advance of Rs 50,000, with the remaining amount to be paid after the murder.
