After protests Panjab University revises food rates, check

Chandigarh: Thousands of students at Panjab University (PU) in Chandigarh Sector-14 will now get cheaper food. The university administration had previously increased food prices, leading to student protests. In response to the opposition from students, the PU administration has reduced food prices to provide relief. All student organizations at PU united in expressing their anger over the price hike.

The PU administration held a meeting with student organizations regarding the increased mess food prices and subsequently reduced the rates. All student organizations opposed the price increase, with the ABVP demonstrating on Monday.

As a result of the meeting, the price of a thali in the hostel mess was reduced from Rs 46 to Rs 41, and the special thali from Rs 51 to Rs 46.50. While the ABVP supported the administration’s decision, some other student organizations continue to demand the reinstatement of the old rates.

SFS, PSU Lalkar, and PFUS are calling for the mess food prices to revert to the previous season’s rates, with a thali at Rs 39 and a special thali at Rs 46.50.
