Sri Akal Takht Jathedar condemns removal of Giani Harpreet Singh, Call it unfortunate and harmful

Amritsar: Sri Akal Takht Sahib Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh and Jathedar Harpreet Singh have voiced their support for a statement condemning the recent developments surrounding the removal of Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh from the post of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib.

In a statement, Giani Raghbir Singh expressed his deep concerns over the situation, stating, “The kind of developments in the past few days are deeply troubling.

The method used to remove Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh is not correct, and the decisions made on December 2, 2024, by Sri Akal Takht Sahib, based on Panthic sentiments and traditions, created an atmosphere of hostility towards the Singh Sahiban.”

He also criticized the media trial against Giani Harpreet Singh, accusing it of distorting a family issue that had been ongoing for 18 years.

He reiterated his stance as Jathedar Sri Akal Takht Sahib, stressing that only the Akal Takht should handle inquiries into any Jathedar’s actions.

Giani Raghbir Singh further condemned the retirement of Giani Harpreet Singh, calling it an unfortunate and harmful decision that undermines the independence of the Takht Sahiban.

He said that this move would have long-term negative repercussions on the spiritual and institutional integrity of the Sikh community.
