Bharat Bhushan Ashu tender scam

Former Congress minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu, who has been arrested in connection with the tender scam, is likely to face more problems. The officers and employees of food and supply department have recorded their statements with the Vigilance Department regarding the irregularities in the tender case. After this, there is a possibility of many reversals in this case.

A couple of employees have admitted in their statement that there has been a major irregularity in the purchase and sale of wheat, rice and bardana. At present, the statements of six other people, who belong to this department, are yet to be taken in this case. A report related to the quality check of rice is also likely to come today.

The court has issued warrant against absconding Inderjit Indy and Pankaj Meenu Malhotra, PA  former minister. These warrants have been issued only till October 27 as the accused have not been arrested even after 40 days, while relatives and close relatives of both the accused are being summoned and interrogated in this case.

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau had arrested former minister and Working President of The Punjab Congress Committee Bharat Bhushan Ashu in connection with the grain lifting case. Earlier the Vigilance had registered a case against the contractor Telu Ram, his associates Jagroop Singh, Gurdas Ram and Company and Sandeep Bhatia for taking the contract for lifting of food grains from the mandis and also arrested Telu Ram.
