BJP will contest elections alone in Punjab, announces Sunil Jakhar
Chandigarh: The BJP will contest the Lok Sabha elections alone in Punjab, as announced by the party’s state president Sunil Jakhar.
He said that this decision was made after consulting with the public, workers, and leaders, all of whom share the same sentiment. Punjab, which has 13 Lok Sabha seats, will witness this independent stance from the BJP, aimed at securing the future of Punjab, its youth, farmers, traders, and backward classes.
Jakhar said that over the last decade, every grain of farmers’ crops has been procured, and PM Modi has fulfilled the long-standing demand for the Kartarpur corridor, marking a significant achievement.
Previously, discussions were underway regarding a possible re-alliance between the BJP and Akali Dal in Punjab, with senior BJP leaders supporting the idea. However, despite efforts, an agreement could not be reached.
