Chandigarh: The Central government has provided VIP security cover of armed paramilitary commandos to three former Punjab Congress leaders, two of whom had recently joined the BJP.
Sources said that the central intelligence agencies have given ‘Y’ category security to Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary, his mother Karamjit Kaur Chaudhary and Tejinder Singh Bittu after they expressed threat perception. Karamjit Kaur and Tejinder Singh Bittu had recently joined the BJP.
Sources said the Union Home Ministry has directed the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) to provide security to the leaders.
