Hailstorm in Haryana and Punjab: Rain in 17 districts, Snowfall in Himachal

Chandigarh: Due to the activation of a Western Disturbance (WD) in North India, hilly areas have experienced snowfall, while the plains have received rainfall for the past 36 hours. Rainfall has been observed in various locations in Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh. Hailstorms have affected Ambala in Haryana and Ludhiana and Moga in Punjab.

Additionally, rain is anticipated in Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Karnal, Sonipat, Jind, and Panipat in Haryana. An orange alert has been issued in Punjab for Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib, Rupnagar, Patiala, and Malerkotla.

In Himachal Pradesh, there is a possibility of snowfall in the lower areas today. According to the Meteorological Department, the second western disturbance is expected to become active from February 3.

An orange alert has been issued for heavy rain and snowfall in Chamba, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, Kangra, Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur, and Sirmaur today.
