Punjabi youth truck driver arrested for drug smuggling in Canada

Toronto: The 29-year-old Indo-Canadian driver was arrested by border authorities after 406.2 kg of methamphetamine was found in large suitcases inside his commercial truck, police said.

Komalpreet Sidhu from Winnipeg was arrested by the Manitoba Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) on January 14 and is expected to appear in court today.

Ken McGregor of the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) said in Winnipeg that the truck, which was on its way to Winnipeg, was searched.

The drugs were found inside the suitcases in the truck. The value of the seized suspected drugs is more than 50 million Canadian dollars. The truck came from the US.
