Chandigarh SSP powers curtailed

Chandigarh: The Central government has appointed a Punjab IPS officer as the SSP of Chandigarh, but after Kanwardeep Kaur, who became the second woman SSP of Chandigarh, joined the Chandigarh Police, however, in a move to curtailing her powers, now appoint/transfer an inspector has been delegated to the DIG (incharge of headquarters).

In a fresh order by Chandigarh DGP, the posting of constable, head constable, ASI and sub-inspector can be done by either SP City or SSP.
The SSP UT in Chandigarh who has law and order cannot change any of the above level officers. This is for the first time in Chandigarh that a DGP has issued such orders in which the SSP cannot transfer anyone.
