Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema presents budget of Rs 1. 96 lakh crore

Chandigarh: The Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is presenting its budget for the financial year 2023-24 today.

The budget is being presented by Finance Minister Harpal Cheema. This year there is a total budget of Rs 1, 96, 462 crore.
Finance Minister Harpal Cheema said that Rs 26,295 crore has been earmarked for infrastructure this year, which is 13 per cent more than the previous year in 2023-23.
The budget was presented by Finance Minister Harpal Cheema. On the other hand, the opposition created a ruckus in the House over the budget.
Finance Minister Harpal Cheema said Rs 1,002 crore has been earmarked for social security pension, which is an increase of 22 per cent.
A proposal of Rs 497 crore has been proposed to provide free travel facility to women. Apart from this, Rs 850 cr has been earmarked for post matric scholarship scheme, Aashirwad Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana.
An amount of Rs 13,878 crore has been proposed for this year for the empowerment, monitoring and overall development of scheduled castes, backward classes, minorities and all weaker sections of the society.
